Mary’s 10th graders are exploring the theme of food in literature (and the use of food or dining scenes in story-telling as a literary device.)
Use the menu at left to explore the databases recommended for studying literature. Don’t miss the Literature Resource Center from Gale as a way to find literary criticism, poems, short stories.
In the library’s catalog (linked from the library’s homepage), you will find a “Resource List” at the left menu for locating books selected for exploration. You can also search the catalog for more titles by doing a ‘power search” such as “Food AND fiction.”
As the unit unfolds, these movies might be explored: Chef (with John Favreau), Giro Dreams of Sushi, Babette’s Feast (foreign titles.) What movies can we add to this list?
Edible Book Contest: For fun, take a look at these edible books! Will you join the contest this year? (See rules for 2014 contest held at the Cherrydale Library. See winning entries from 2012!)
