Information - Middle School Students

DUE TO ANTICIPATED SNOW THIS WEEK (Feb 10-14) SOME CHANGES TO OUR VISIT DAYS HAVE BEEN MADE. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

Students entering 6th Grade:

Welcome to H-B Woodlawn! We invite admitted students to spend the day with our current 6th graders in the coming weeks. Please see the day assigned by attending school below. We have very little flexibility in accommodating scheduling requests, but if you have an immovable conflict, please contact Vanessa Piccorossi as soon as possible. Please remember that the deadline to accept or decline your student’s place at H-B Woodlawn is February 21, 2025, by 11:59 pm. You will need to do this via SchoolMint and by completing the HBW Program Student-Parent Commitment (details at the end of this page). Should you do NOTHING in SchoolMint by the deadline, we will assume you are declining your spot and will offer it to the next student on the appropriate waiting list. We are excited to meet each of our rising 6th graders in the coming weeks!

This a day for admitted students to visit.
Please drop your student off at 1601 Wilson Boulevard, in front of The Heights Building at 8:45 am. There is no need to park in the morning; staff will be there to greet your student and bring them into the building. Your student should bring something to write with, a notebook (of any kind) and a book to read. They can either get lunch from the cafeteria or bring a bagged lunch. Visiting 6th grade students are not permitted off campus. We regret we are unable to accommodate students on the waiting list at this time.

Plan to attend an important meeting for admitted rising 6th grade parents at 3:00 on the day your student visits H-B Woodlawn. This is your opportunity to meet our staff, ask questions, and learn more about the middle school years at H-B Woodlawn. We regret we are unable to accommodate parents on the waiting list at this time. Parking near by is available for the 3:00 meeting on the visit day. Parking information can be found under “About Us.”

Can’t make the meeting on your student’s visit day? An optional virtual parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 18 at 9:00 am. The link to this meeting will be sent to admitted parents no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, February 14.

Course requests: We will send course selection materials to admitted/accepted families in February.

PARENTS NEED TO:

  1. Attend the parent meeting at 3:00 on the day your student visits HBW (see above listing).
  2. Read, sign, and return the H-B Woodlawn Program Description and Student/Parent Commitment to Vanessa Piccorossi (emailed PDFs are welcomed).
