Arlington Public Schools health services are provided by the School Health Bureau of the Public Health Division of Arlington County’s Department of Human Services.
- Please contact the school health clinic and the school attendance line for all absences related to illness.
- The school clinic will be open Monday-Friday during school hours.
- All medications must be dropped off by a parent or guardian. Please call the school clinic for an appointment to drop off medications or update your student’s health information.

About the School Health Bureau
The mission of the School Health Bureau is to provide students and their families with preventive and early intervention services that enable the student to learn to the best of his or her potential.
- Middle and High Schools are staffed with both a School Health Aide and a Public Health Nurse (PHN).
- Elementary Schools are staffed with a School Health Aide at each site, while Public Health Nurses cover two elementary schools
School Health Entry Requirements
Per the Code of Virginia (§ 22.1-271.2. Immunization requirements (virginia.gov) and § 22.1-270. Preschool physical examinations (virginia.gov)), students must meet school health entry requirements.
School health staff will follow up with parents of students who are missing required vaccines and physical examinations.
