This year’s APS High School Community Read is Monday’s Not Coming by author Tiffany D. Jackson. This book follows the story of Claudia and her best friend Monday and the unraveling layers of mystery surrounding Monday’s mysterious disappearance. Readers will be captivated by the theme of loss, dialogue about mental health and trauma, as well as what happens when systems fail our children. Ms. Jackson will be visiting all three comprehensive high schools in Arlington, spending the morning of April 2 at Wakefield, the afternoon of April 2 at Yorktown, and the morning of April 3 at Washington-Lee. She is also speaking at a community event held at Arlington Public Library’s Central Library Branch on April 2 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the auditorium which will also feature community resources echoing themes from the book.
