Displaying Laptops and iPads to Classroom (Apple TVs, AirServer, Projector)

Need help setting up your classroom? Having trouble connecting your laptop to the projector?

Connecting to an Apple TV –

To connect from your MacBook Air:

  1. Make sure the Apple TV is on (white light)
  2. Change the projector to hdmi
  3. From the display icon on the right side of the Apple menu (near the wifi icon) select the room you are using.
  4. You may need to adjust the laptop resolution and/or make sure you have Mirror Displays checked in the Displays Preference.
  5. The Apple TV should display a code to allow you to connect.  This code changes every time.
  6. Make sure you disconnect from AirPlay when finished or the next person will not be able to connect.

If you are using an iOS Device – Same except for 3 & 4

  1. Make sure the Apple TV is on (white light)
  2. Change the projector to hdmi
  3. Display the Control Panel on the device by swiping up from the bottom.
  4. Select AirPlay and then select the room number.
  5. The Apple TV should display a code to allow you to connect.  This code changes every time.
  6. Make sure you disconnect from AirPlay when finished or the next person will not be able to connect.

AirServer

Classrooms with projectors that do not have hdmi will use AirServer software installed on the teacher laptop connected to the projector as a way for iPads and student MacBook Airs to project wirelessly.  If you do not have an Apple TV, please submit this information to me to request the software installation for you.
