Our bi-annual Silent Auction is a tremendous fundraiser which fully supports our Scholarship Program. The proceeds of the auction enable students with financial need to participate in the music activities and attend our annual spring trip. In addition to being a meaningful fundraiser, it is also a fun community night. While the auction is setup in the HBW gym, across the hall in the cafeteria we will gather around the table like a giant Italian family and enjoy spaghetti dinner, while being serenaded by our talented music students. Please consider supporting this cause, volunteering to help, or at least coming out for a wonderful evening of community, music and fun!
We need volunteers to collect donations, to organize the auction catalog, to advertise the event, and to organize the spaghetti dinner. We welcome recommendations and assistance from our music community and would be especially appreciative of advice/help from those who have first hand experience planning/organizing this type of event. Now Collecting Donations:
This is something that everyone can help with. We are hoping to have a diverse collection of items to offer for auction. We would like to include a variety of items. Here are just some examples: gift certificates for local businesses, including restaurants, spas, boutiques; items from retail establishments or individuals – iPods, computers, books, gift cards; tickets to local attractions – local live theaters, movie theaters, sporting events; services from businesses, parents, aunts/uncles/friends – framing, photography, baking, special dinner, voice or music lessons, musical performances; vacation rentals – a week at the beach, an island cottage, a NYC apartment; unique activities – backstage visits, behind the scenes guided tour; themed gift baskets; and etc.
We also encourage you to request donations from organizations/ businesses that you frequent. Receipts will be provided for all donations, donor names will be included in the auction guide and a thank you board will be posted at the auction to provide advertising for all donors.
